Hospes Las Casas Del Rey De Baeza

Hospes Las Casas Del Rey De Baeza

Seville, Spain

Hospes las Casas del Rey de Baeza began life as an 18th-century home and was later converted into apartments for the Seville Expo '92. In 1998, the property was transformed into a hotel that retains a distinct sense of Andalusian charm with its whitewashed fa莽ade and cluster of internal cobbled patios. Just a 15-minute walk from the cathedral, the hotel makes an ideal base for exploring the city.

The hotel consists of a string of linked houses surrounding a central courtyard where potted plants and climbing vines grow. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner sitting at the tables here.

Traditional Andalusian decor features heavily throughout in the terracotta, stone and cobbled floors and the blue-painted wooden stairs that lead to the 41 rooms. Each room boasts a wrought-iron bed frame, a tiled floor and jute matting.

On the roof, looking out across Seville鈥檚 rooftops, you鈥檒l find a bar and terrace next to the solarium and pool (well sized for the city). The hotel also has a small beauty and treatment area in the attic.

OUR OPINION:

Bursting with charm, Hospes las Casas del Rey de Baeza is an oasis in the heart of Seville. We love its understated atmosphere, which makes you feel like you鈥檙e staying in a traditional Andalusian house.

Rooms

Decorated in Andalusian blues and whites, the rooms are light and airy with traditional fixtures like wrought-iron beds, weathered wooden furniture and jute matting over tiled floors. The modern stone-tiled bathrooms provide you with a robe and slippers, every room has a kettle for making tea and coffee, and a few of the junior suites include a private terrace.

Location

Set among narrow streets and alleys on the edge of Seville鈥檚 historic district, the hotel is a 15-minute walk from the cathedral and Giralda tower, the Real Alc谩zar, and the bars and restaurants of Plaza Nueva (Seville鈥檚 grand square).

Food and drink

An 脿 la carte breakfast of hot and cold dishes is served on the central patio. You can also enjoy lunch and dinner here or inside Restaurante Azahar, with its choice of the chef鈥檚 tasting menu of local dishes or an 脿 la carte selection of Andalusian classics. Aside from the restaurant, you can enjoy a drink or light snack on the rooftop bar overlooking the Seville skyline.
