When life gives you lemons tour

Your private guide will meet you when you arrive in the Amalfi Coast town of Minori, and you’ll head up the hills in a vintage-style cart.

As you go, you’re likely to pass farmers who still transport their goods by mule. Your guide will talk you through the traditional farming and harvesting methods that the locals still use to cultivate the trees.

Arriving amid the orchards, you’ll walk through the trees as your guide points out the different stages of lemons’ growth cycles — the trees produce fruit year-round.

Family members work in the groves most days, so you’re likely to meet them as they tend the trees and pick the lemons.

Italy is the world’s largest producer of lemons, and the Amalfi Coast is known for its bumper production. You’ll hear about the myriad ways that lemons’ juice, flesh, peel and zest are all used in traditional products, from soaps and disinfectants to silky sauces and tender lemon-soaked cakes.

After your walk, you can refresh yourself with simple snacks and a glass of lemonade in the mountainside hamlet of Pontone before a visit to the local limoncello distillery.

The factory’s host will take you on a guided tour through all the steps of making the bright-tasting liqueur, and give you a simple recipe you can replicate at home. You can also sample some of the strong but sweet limoncello, as well as the chocolate liqueurs and grappa the distillery also produces.

Your tour ends with a three-course set-menu lunch (included) back in Minori. Here, you can take in the views from a seaside restaurant terrace as you enjoy your citrus-scented meal.
