Hotel d'Angleterre

Hotel d'Angleterre

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen’s signature grande dame hotel, d’Angleterre was established in 1755 and its imposing white-stone façade recalls that era’s imperial grandeur. The exterior and public spaces retain much of the hotel’s historic majesty, while the rooms boast clean, classic Nordic decor and all the latest modern comforts.

The central location, on Kongens Nytorv Square, means you’re a short walk to all the major sights, including Nyhavn, the Royal Theatre and Strøget. If you prefer to eat in, you can enjoy a French menu with a Nordic twist at the Michelin-starred Marchal, or sip bubbly at Balthazar Champagne Bar. You can also take advantage of the Amazing Space Spa’s menu of beauty treatments, the only indoor pool in central Copenhagen, and the state-of-the-art fitness room.

OUR OPINION:

We think this is the most luxurious option in Copenhagen, with the service and amenities you’d envision at such a storied and long-lived hotel. We particularly love the cuisine at Marchal.

Rooms

The 92 elegant, airy rooms and suites share a calm, neutral palette. Shades of cream, buff and dove gray are accented with muted mauve, mellow gold and gilt. The artwork on the walls is hand-picked for each room.

Some of the suites’ names pay tribute to Danish luminaries, including author Hans Christians Anderson and sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen, who once stayed here. Many also have balconies with views over the city. The bathrooms are grandly spacious and fully modern, and all rooms come with a good range of amenities.

There’s no better location in Copenhagen for enjoying the charms of the city. The hotel is on Kongens Nytorv Square, a very short walk from many of the city’s main attractions, including Nyhavn, the Royal Theatre, the King’s Garden and Strøget.
