Windsor Martinque, Rio de Janeiro

Windsor Martinique

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The Windsor Martinique offers a clean and comfortable place to stay in the heart of the city, and while it lacks a little character, the excellent location and high level of service from its friendly staff sets it apart from other entry-level Rio hotels.

The property's iconic setting is what many people picture when they think of Rio, and so it offers an ideal location from which to soak up the city's atmosphere. You could spend the day perusing the streets of Rio and soak up the sun on Copacabana or Ipanema beaches before retreating to the hotel to enjoy a refreshing drink on the terrace, taking in the panoramic views over Copacabana Beach.

OUR OPINION:

A reliable option with an excellent location. While it lacks a little character, a trip to Rio is all about exploring the city and being in the thick of the action, something this hotel certainly allows you to do.

Excellent

Rooms

All of the hotel's rooms have been designed to offer a comfortable, clean, and welcoming stay in Rio. While a little on the small side, they offer a good range of amenities, including air conditioning, Wi-Fi, cable TVs, minibars, electronic safes, and hair dryers. There are two room categories to choose from, which differ in terms of their views, with standard rooms overlooking the central courtyard and superior rooms facing out toward the city skyline.

Location

The Martinique's location is one of its biggest draws. Just a block back from the world-famous Copacabana Beach, the hotel is ideal for exploring not just the beach but the lively Copacabana district, home to numerous bars, cafés and restaurants. A 20-minute walk in the opposite direction also takes you to Ipanema Beach, which rivals Copacabana in terms of its beauty. Home to numerous chic restaurants and bars, Ipanema is the buzzing heart of a more modern Rio. For those who want to go off exploring on their own, it's easy to get taxis from the hotel, and the city's metro is only a short walk away.

Food and drink

Your stay at the Windsor Martinique includes buffet breakfast in the on-site restaurant. The hotel also offers an à la carte service for lunch and dinner, with a focus on Brazilian cuisine. For pre- or post-dinner drinks, head to the American Bar, where you can enjoy a variety of beverages on the rooftop terrace.

Families

The Windsor chain of hotels pride themselves on their exceptional service, so families will be well looked after here.

Facilities and activities

The hotel has a small rooftop pool from which you can enjoy views over the city, and a small gym. Wi-Fi can be accessed on the rooftop and in the lobby.
