Hotel Emiliano

Hotel Emiliano

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The Emiliano is one of the most recent arrivals to Copacabana Beach.

While the service, restaurant, and comfortable rooms are noteworthy, it's the hotel's façade which is perhaps its most striking feature. Massive retractable panels (cobogós in local architectural parlance) give the Emiliano an ever-changing appearance. When closed, guests enjoy an added bit of privacy without completely closing themselves off and when open, they reveal views stretching from Leme to Fort Copacabana.

Behind this portico, guests can enjoy 1,115 sq m (12,000 sq ft) of relaxation and leisure areas including the spa, restaurant, and rooftop pool and bar, with impeccable service to match.

OUR OPINION:

A modern but characterful hotel with friendly staff, a superb location, and excellent facilities.

Rooms

The Emiliano's rooms are tastefully, unpretentiously decorated and extremely comfortable. Rooms begin at 42 sq m (452 sq ft) and their en suites include marble fixtures, a Victoria Albert bathtub, a stand-in shower, and the Emiliano’s own Santapele brand toiletries. Higher categories of rooms are even grander, and offer sweeping oceanfront views. One suite has a private sauna, tub with massage system, and personal massage room.

Location

The hotel sits at the far southern end of Copacabana Beach and from the rooftop pool and bar, it offers views of some of the most cherished sites in Rio, from Sugarloaf at one end to Copacabana Fort at the other. Its location on Copacabana Beach is known for its calm waters which draw swimmers and stand-up paddleboarders. Just around the corner are the tree-lined streets of Ipanema which are filled with bars, restaurants, and cafés.

Food and drink

At Emile, the hotel’s flagship restaurant, the focus is on sustainability and freshness, in keeping with Emiliano’s mission of being a model establishment for Brazil. Set against the backdrop of a rising wall of vegetation, diners can enjoy dishes created from seasonal organic, biodynamic, and ecologically friendly ingredients that come from small local farmers and producers, whether it's the wellness breakfast or the à la carte dinner service. Food and cocktails can also be enjoyed at the rooftop pool and bar.

Families

With connecting rooms available, this can be a suitable option for families with older children but more appropriate options do exist in the city for those with small children.

Facilities and activities

The rooftop pool is the ideal place to spend a sunny afternoon, but it's the Santapele Spa that's the real star feature at the Emiliano. Located on the 11th floor, the spa has an extensive menu of massages and skin treatments, all with a focus on rebalancing your wellbeing.
