Olympic National Park covers much of the Olympic Peninsula and was created in 1938 by Franklin D. Roosevelt partly to ensure the long term survival of the rare Roosevelt elk.

Today the park is home to the largest remaining herd in the USA and they roam free across the park's wild rivers and enormous tracts of temperate rainforest comprising gigantic stands of hemlock, Douglas fir and western red cedar.

Lake Crescent is a ten acre glacier-gouged lake located on the park's northern boundary and is the perfect location for exploring and relaxing. Nearby lies the beautiful coastal drive toward Neah Bay along the edge of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the Marymere Falls, and the precipitous road to breathtaking Hurricane Ridge.

Other highlights of Olympic National Park include the Hoh Rainforest and the Sol Duc hot springs.
