Francis Hotel, Bath

Francis Hotel

Bath, The UK

Comprising seven connecting 18th-century townhouses, the Francis Hotel is a historic property located on Queen Square, a five- to ten-minute walk from the main sights of the city. Its grand Georgian façade stands in contrast to its vibrant interior, which was designed using bold hues and contemporary furniture to celebrate the liveliness of Britain’s Regency period.

The modern-feeling rooms are decorated in a similar fashion with bold prints, some featuring artwork on the ceiling or a four-poster bed. A number of rooms offer views of Bath’s skyline and Queen Square.

OUR OPINION:

An interesting juxtaposition of contemporary and historic styles, we love the vibrant interior and central location of the Francis Hotel.

Rooms

While the rooms are decorated to their own style, all feel modern and are decorated with bright hues and bold prints and, sometimes, artwork on the ceilings. Many rooms offer sweeping views over the city of Bath and Queen Square. Some rooms feature a four-poster bed. An en suite bathroom, flat-screen TV, air conditioning and complimentary Wi-Fi come as standard in each room.

Location

Situated on Queen Square, the Francis Hotel is a property that gives the best of both worlds in terms of location. While located in a relatively quiet, residential area, it’s still central. The Jane Austen Centre is one street away, and the Roman Baths and the Royal Crescent can be reached on foot in five to ten minutes.

Food and drink

A relaxed breakfast of traditional English and continental fare, and the hotel’s own dishes, is served in the John Wood room. You can also enjoy afternoon tea and light meals made with locally sourced ingredients all day in the lounge and bar. While the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, you can dine at the Brasserie Blanc, which adjoins the hotel and serves seasonal French cuisine.
