Bequia Plantation Hotel

Bequia Plantation Hotel

Bequia, St Vincent and the Grenadines

The Bequia Plantation dates back to the 1950s and is a charming and laid-back hotel. The hotel is made up of the original plantation house which has been given a new lease of life, along with pretty gingerbread cottages that are located within the gardens.

The waterfront location allows guests to enjoy the waters of Bequia Island, while having easy access to explore the island from the hotel.

OUR OPINION:

The Bequia Plantation Hotel is a picturesque base for exploring the hidden island of Bequia further.

Rooms

The main house comprises both garden and sea views both of which come with complimentary Wi-Fi, cable TV and air conditioning. The sea view rooms have an additional balcony which is the perfect place to watch the boats coming in and out of the bay. The Beach and more secluded Orchard Suites are in blocks adjoining each other, located within the lush gardens. The highest category of rooms here is the Beach Front Villas which overlook the lawns and have a view of the pool and sea. Each villa is stylish with high-vaulted ceilings and a spacious patio area.

Location

One of the best features about this hotel is its waterfront location — looking out over Admiralty Bay. Just in front of the hotel is the Belmont Walkway, which goes into the main capital of Port Elizabeth. There are many dining options along the walkway, and it's also one of the best spots to enjoy the sunset on Bequia. To the left of the hotel is Margaret's Trail, which leads you to Margaret's Beach, regarded as one of the best on the island.

Food and drink

The hotel has a casual restaurant located on the beachfront. The food is simple and the restaurant can be visited for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are many alternative restaurants on the island and most of them are within walking distance in Port Elizabeth. Recommendations for dining include Mac's which is five minutes' walk from the hotel.

Families

Children are welcomed at Bequia Plantation Hotel, but please be aware that there are no specific children's activities and the hotel does have a more adult focus.

Facilities and activities

There’s a small swimming pool, located within the gardens of the hotel. Guests are also invited to use the hotel's water sports equipment, which includes paddleboards and kayaks. Outside the hotel, there are many walking and hiking trails, including Ma Peggy Rock, which is the highest point on the island.

The hotel doesn’t have a dive facility on site, although diving can be arranged locally.

Accessibility

Please note that the villas and rooms have stairs leading up to the entrance.

Local excursions

Pack a picnic and head to Princess Margaret Beach where you can swim in the calm waters. Local shacks line the beach, selling everything from cheap beer to vibrant beachwear. There is also Jack's Bar, which is a popular hangout and a great option for lunch. Please note on Sundays the beach can be a popular spot for locals.
