Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa

Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa

Lisbon, Portugal

Opened in 1933 in the heart of the grand Avenida da Liberdade, the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa is a leading city landmark.

The large lobby atrium is surrounded by marble columns and overlooked by a second-floor gallery, while gilded panels adorned with geometric prints add a touch of Art Deco style. The plush carpets, comfortable seating and large arrays of fresh flowers make it a stately place to relax over a drink or listen to the pianist in residence most evenings. Alternatively, you can head up to the open-air Sky Bar or top-floor Terraço restaurant for panoramic views across Lisbon.

The understated rooms are decorated in a classically elegant fashion and furnished to a very high standard with modern amenities and stylish bathrooms. Attention to detail is key with fine linens, high quality mattresses and a pillow menu to ensure your every comfort. In the basement of the hotel there is a spa and gym, while outside, a circular pool, massage pavilion and pool bar await — a rarity for such a centrally located city hotel.

OUR OPINION:

Contemporary style meets polished service in this wonderfully relaxing five-star hotel. We particularly love the sweeping views from the Terraço restaurant and Sky Bar.

Rooms

The rooms are elegantly furnished with dark wood furniture, plush, neutral fabrics, thick carpets and soft lighting. All have standard modern amenities such as air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi as well as Nespresso coffee machines and pillow menus. For families, there are a handful of interconnecting rooms as well as a selection of much larger Deluxe rooms which are ideal for adding an extra bed. The modern bathrooms are stylishly finished with walk-in showers or bathtubs, while the suites feature a separate rain shower in addition to a bath.

As an extra perk, those staying in the suites also have access to the top-floor club lounge and an à la carte breakfast service each morning in the Terraço rooftop restaurant.

Location

Situated on Lisbon’s grand Avenida da Liberdade and surrounded by the city’s high-end shopping district, the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa makes a great base. The central Baixa area can be accessed on foot via an easy downhill stroll in around 15 minutes, while the lively Principe Real and Bairro Alto districts are a short taxi ride away, or a 20-minute uphill walk if you're feeling energetic.

Food and drink

The Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa offers a number of dining options. On the ground floor the central lobby bar serves afternoon tea and a selection of light snacks during the day. Overlooking the Avenida Liberdade, the Cervejaria Liberdade is decorated in the style of a French bistro and focuses on fresh seafood. On the top floor you’ll find the gourmet Terraço rooftop restaurant which serves contemporary Portuguese fare by Michelin-starred chef Rui Paula. Pastries, fresh fruit and cereal, as well as a selection of hot options, are available for breakfast with an à la carte service offered for guests staying in any of the suites.

Facilities and activities

As well as a friendly and efficient concierge service, the hotel offers a spa and gym in the basement and a stylish terrace with a circular pool, massage pavilion and pool bar.
