Borgo San Felice, Tuscany

Borgo San Felice

Italy

The original settlement of Borgo San Felice was founded in the 8th century. Restored into a luxurious Relais & Chateaux property, the hotel encompasses the whole medieval borgo (hamlet), including the chapel, small square and surrounding vineyards.

The transformation into a hotel has been tastefully carried out, and today red geraniums spill out of flower boxes hung from cool stone façades, while hanging jasmine delicately scents the air. The active winery and vineyards attract wine enthusiasts and novices alike and vintages from the property are exported around the world.

OUR OPINION:

The range of activities on offer and the breathtaking views of the Tuscan countryside make this property a fantastic choice.

Rooms

The property’s rooms are located throughout six historic buildings within the borgo. With stone walls and terracotta roofs, the beautifully converted guest rooms offer every modern comfort. The historic nature of the buildings means that no two rooms are exactly the same, but all are spacious and decorated in a classic contemporary style with Tuscan details. Bathrooms shine with bright tiles and almost all are equipped with both a walk-in shower and separate bathtub. Original features, such as exposed stone walls and wooden beam ceilings, lend a real feeling of authenticity. All rooms offer air-conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs.

Location

The property is set within rolling vineyards in the Chianti and offers beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside. The location offers a peaceful escape from the bustle of Italian city life, while still close enough to enjoy the many towns of Tuscany. Siena is just a 20-minute drive away, while Florence can be reached in 50 minutes by car.

Food and drink

Two restaurants and three bars offer guests a variety of dining options. The more formal Poggio Rosso is open for breakfast and dinner. Guests there can enjoy traditional Tuscan cuisine while looking out over the surrounding countryside. For those who prefer more casual dining, Osteria del Griglio is open for lunch and dinner. A light menu is also available at the poolside bar.

Facilities and activities

For those looking for a more active stay, Borgo San Felice offers hiking and biking in the countryside, a pool with gorgeous views and a gym. If you'd prefer to simply relax, head to the spa or enjoy wine tastings in the winery, including produce from the property’s own vineyards.
