Carol

Indian Subcontinent & Canada Specialist

The travel bug bit Carol at a young age after joining her dad on his round the world trip in Canada at the age of 11. Taking every opportunity to get away, she visited many places around the globe before embarking on a round the world trip which included trekking the Inca Trail, scuba diving with sharks in Australia, the jungles of Borneo and Everest Base Camp.

Since starting at Audley, Carol has spent time in India, Nepal, Bhutan and most recently Canada. Now with two young boys in tow she loves to travel the world with her family and share the wonders of new countries and cultures, taking every chance to take them on adventures and pass the travel bug on to the next generation.

Norbulingka Institute, Dharamshala

I recommend visiting - Dharamshala & McLeod Ganj, India

Home to the Dalai Lama, Dharamsala and McLeod Ganj are stunning neighboring towns set in the mountains of the Himalayan Foothills. Feeling worlds away from the hustle and bustle of India as you know it; Dharamsala is a place of calm and tranquility. In monsoon season you must wake up early to view the incredible mountain scenery before the mist takes over and make sure you wrap up warm as the hills can be chilly. It has the feel of an alpine resort with plenty of places to walk around and soak up the wonderful atmosphere.

Super Deluxe room, Fort Barli, Barli

I recommend staying at - Fort Barli, India

Medium

At Fort Barli in Rajasthan you can explore the village of Barli by foot or by bullock cart and will get to meet the local cobbler and visit the local temple. You can not help but feel humbled by the welcome you will receive from the local children and villagers.

On return to the Fort you have a variety of other activities to choose from such as dressing in traditional Indian wedding attire and traditional henna paintings. You will be treated like one of the Maharani that lived here and will always remember the beautiful surrounds of this unique stay.

I'll never forget when…

Trekking in the Himalaya has got to be the highlight of my ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½. We trekked for 12 days solid through constantly changing and incredible mountains and scenery. The view of Everest in the distance spurred me on and I felt humbled to be in its shadow. Although it was hugely challenging, every day was a huge reward and I always felt as though I had really deserved those frozen chocolate bars that I came to know and love. It was an experience that even now provokes goose bumps and one that I am sure I will always remember.
