Built in 1910, the Miss Clara hotel was originally a girls’ school for almost 40 years and is named after its influential former headmistress Clara Strömberg. With its original stone floors and Art Nouveau style sensitively married with contemporary touches by architect Gert Wingårdh, the building’s sense of history is apparent throughout your stay in Stockholm.
Around 20 minutes’ walk to the old town and Djurgården, the 92-room hotel is situated on Sveavägen Boulevard, an up-and-coming district that attracts creative types with its boutique shops, galleries and restaurants. You can also choose to dine at the hotel’s own Italian restaurant, while its bar serves drinks into the evening.
Rooms are simply but stylishly decorated with crisp white walls and dark herringbone parquet floors, each with large windows to ensure ample natural light. When not relaxing in your room or exploring the city, you could make use of Miss Clara’s sauna and gym.
Oozing historic character and a contemporary style, we feel the Miss Clara is a great option for those who don鈥檛 mind walking a little further to reach the city.
