Puente Romano

Puente Romano

Costa del Sol, Spain

Named after a Roman bridge in its grounds, the Puente Romano is designed to resemble a small Andalusian village while offering a tranquil waterfront retreat on the Costa del Sol. The 220 rooms, arranged in small, low-rise clusters, continue the village style, surrounded by greenery and connected by paths that lead to the beach.

The resort鈥檚 central plaza houses a variety of restaurants and bars, including a branch of the acclaimed Nobu chain. Down by the beach, you鈥檒l find an outdoor pool and the Six Senses Spa (complete with an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and treatment rooms).

The rooms themselves are neutrally decorated in shades of white, grey and cream and enlivened with pieces of modern art. The air-conditioned rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi and a tablet for your use. The en suite bathrooms feature Andalusian ceramics.

Next door, you can book a court and lessons at the Puente Romano Tennis Club, a Davis Cup venue, or play a round at the nearby Marbella Club golf course. Bikes are also available to hire for cycling the beachfront promenade in either direction to Marbella or Puerto Ban煤s and beyond. During the summer, the hotel鈥檚 kids鈥 club offers activities and sports lessons.

OUR OPINION:

We love the scattered, leafy layout of the Puente Romano. It feels more like a laid-back retreat than a larger hotel, without compromising on an excellent range of facilities.

Excellent

Rooms

Rooms are decorated in shades of white, grey and cream, with modern art pieces and throws adding a touch of vibrancy. They all have complimentary Wi-Fi and air conditioning, as well as a tablet for your use. Most of the rooms have a terrace and a garden view, but a handful look onto the sea.

Location

The hotel is just 2 km (1.25 miles) outside Marbella, which you can easily reach by hiring a bicycle from reception. By car, it鈥檚 an hour from Ronda and M谩laga, two hours from Granada and about two and a half hours from Seville.

Food and drink

Seven restaurants surround the shady central plaza at the top of the property, including Nobu, with a further choice closer to the beach. In summer, the buffet breakfast is served in the plaza and gardens, moving to the beachfront restaurant in the winter.

Families

The hotel鈥檚 kids鈥 club offers a wide variety of activities for children aged 4鈥10. Added to this is an extensive calendar of events for older children and teens, from cooking classes to disco nights. For older children, you can also arrange lessons (available in English) in a variety of sports, such as tennis and golf.

Facilities and activities

As well as an outdoor pool and direct access to the beach, the property鈥檚 amenities include a kids鈥 club, the Six Senses Spa and the Puente Romano Tennis Club. You can also use the facilities at the next-door Marbella Club (a sister hotel) and its golf course.
