L7 Myeongdong, Seoul

L7 Myeongdong

Seoul, South Korea

Modern and minimalist with contemporary art and a designer style, the L7 Myeongdong is a good-value option with a convenient location right in the heart of Seoul. Part of the Lotte Hotel Group, the L7 hotel range is decked out with on-trend design features but has more affordable (and consequently more compact) rooms.

The design theme in the public areas is youthful and playful with solid angular seating in dark grey and canary yellow, and an eclectic collection of bright yellow objects mounted on the walls. These include hats, model planes, rucksacks and skateboards.

The 245 rooms are more pared back in style and are spread over 15 floors. Their simple styling makes use of pale woods, crisp white linens and the same deep grey and bright yellow tones as the reception area. Although compact, the rooms are well-designed and leave you enough space to unpack a suitcase and relax.

There鈥檚 a rooftop bar with a foot spa, and a small gym and spa in the hotel. But, step outside and you have the pick of Seoul鈥檚 transport, shopping, dining and drinking options on your doorstep.

OUR OPINION:

The property offers excellent value for guests wanting to explore the city. The rooms are simple and on the small side, but are effectively laid out and provide a comfortable stay.

Excellent

Rooms

Most of the rooms in the property are standard and superior rooms which come in double, twin and family-twin (a double and single bed) formats. The superior rooms offer a choice of Namsan or city views and the two suites, Locomix and Loasis, are generous in size with separate living areas. All rooms have Wi-Fi, air conditioning, flat-screen TVs and a compact shower room.

Location

Located in the south of Myeongdong District, the L7 offers easy access to a wide range of attractions, restaurants, bars and department stores. There鈥檚 a metro line with direct access to Seoul station nearby. In the opposite direction, you鈥檒l find the ropeway to take you up to Seoul Tower on Mount Namsan for panoramic views of the city.

Food and drink

Although the hotel doesn鈥檛 have a restaurant, a continental and Korean buffet breakfast is served on the reception level. The rooftop bar, Floating, offers far-reaching city views and serves a variety of cocktails, beers and wines as well as small side dishes, while Cafe Delicious Art on the ground floor is decorated with copies of classical art and serves hot drinks and cakes.

Families

The family twin rooms can accommodate small families as they have double and single beds.

Facilities and activities

The compact hotel gym is fairly basic with a treadmill, exercise bike and weights. The Long Day Foot Spa on the rooftop gives you the chance to have a quick soak before relaxing in the bar. There鈥檚 also a travel concierge desk which provides a pedi-cab service around the local area.
