Today you'll leave Florence for the beautiful Tuscan countryside ready to embark on a guided truffle hunt. You’ll head into the woods with a local truffle expert and his highly trained sniffer dog to try and uncover some of these hidden delicacies. This particular area of Tuscany is fortunate enough to produce a variety of truffles throughout the year so there's always a good chance of finding these buried treasures as you explore the woodland.
The tour itself will offer the opportunity to spend around an hour to an hour and a half in the woods with the truffle dog, watching him and his master at work and learning about the environment and conditions needed to produce the truffles. You’ll also learn how a truffle dog is trained and some of the associated challenges of hunting within the woods. At the end of the truffle hunt you’ll return to the showroom for a wonderful truffle tasting lunch complete with wine and coffee, where you can try a huge range of truffle products.
Please note that this tour involves walking on rough trails across steep and uneven ground in the woods. While the walk itself is not strenuous, it is not recommended for those with mobility issues.
