Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites

Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites

Halifax, Canada

Built in 1928, the Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites is a landmark property in downtown Halifax located across from the Public Gardens. It is Halifax's most historic hotel and maintains a traditional, heritage style while at the same time providing all modern conveniences. Guests enter through the grand lobby with its ornate coffered ceiling, glittering chandeliers, tall, arched windows and polished marble floors.

The guest rooms are more contemporary in style with pared-back, neutral decor in pale tones. Wood floors, white linens and simple, modern furniture give a sense of refined elegance without being too fussy. Rooms vary in size and configuration but all have large TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi and tea and coffee facilities.

Just off the lobby, the Arms Restaurant champions old fashioned elegance and nostalgia and is laid out in the style of a decorative saloon lounge with a faux-tin embossed ceiling, a large Union Jack and leather banquettes. It serves a menu of classic British pub fare alongside international dishes and offers plenty of quiet corners to relax in.

The hotel also has a small gym, complimentary limousine service and helpful staff.

OUR OPINION:

This hotel has a great blend of modern decor and traditional furnishings. It聽is further back from the waterfront than a number of other properties, but more than makes up for that in service and amenities.
