Kwa'lilas Hotel

Kwa'lilas Hotel

Port Hardy, Canada

The Kwa’lilas Hotel is located in the heart of the small town of Port Hardy with rooms that look out over either the mountains or ocean. This modern hotel boasts First Nation accents throughout, with masks and other artworks created by tribal artists.

The hotel opened in 2017 and all 85 rooms are spacious and airy, with a sleek modern design that lends an uncluttered serenity to the decor. The hotel has two on-site restaurants that serve lunch and dinner and offer a grab-and-go menu for breakfast. The small gift shop, next to the lobby, has a wide selection of carvings created by local artists as well as a selection of other gifts that pay tribute to the heritage of the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw people.

OUR OPINION:

This is a great, modern, stylish hotel in contrast to the quiet, small town. The new building is full of character and colour and is a pleasure to stay in. This hotel is a breath of fresh air and fits in perfectly with the small town with First Nation influences.

Standard guest rooms offer two queen beds in a bright, spacious room, making them good for a short stay. Some of have connecting rooms upon request.

Mountain View rooms are slightly more spacious and offer better views of the ocean or mountain, though these views are still slightly limited.

Ocean View suites are even larger, with a separate lounge area. These are a great option for someone who wants more room and a longer stay. Please note the toilet does have glass walls in the bathroom.
