Kakuli boasts a wonderful location on an elevated stretch of river bank, overlooking a wide grazing lawn that follows the Luangwa River until it meets its confluence with the Luwi. There are four walk-in Meru style tents, with thatched roofs, cozy beds, bedside tables, simple wardrobes and large shady verandas. The huge en suite bathrooms are partially open, and are great for enjoying a shower with a view. The rooms, like the camp itself, are comfortable and unpretentious, providing a really great base from which to enjoy the park and its wildlife.

The central point of the camp is the bar and dining chitenje, quaintly constructed out of reed and thatch. In front there's an area for open fires, where guests gather both before and after dinner, and often for breakfast with freshly cooked toast on the fire. Activities at Kakuli are a combination of guided walks with day and night game drives, while boating excursions are sometimes possible in the green season.
