Chikoko Bushcamp operates slightly upstream of Tafika on the opposite bank of the Luangwa in a wilderness area of great natural beauty teeming with big game. David Livingstone is said to have visited the area, and little has changed since then. All luggage and supplies are portered into the camps, as there are no roads.

Chikoko is a true walking camp nestled among sausage and ebony trees on the bank of the Chikoko River. The morning and afternoon game viewing is all on foot with a highly experienced guide, an armed ranger and a tea-bearer to carry all the refreshments. Chikoko has just three two-story chalets, constructed of reed and thatch. The bathroom is on the ground floor whilst three meters above on the first floor is a large open fronted bedroom looking out over the sand river and the game-covered plains beyond.

Although the Chikoko River is dry for most of the year, there is a small pool in front of camp that stays wet all year and game can often be seen coming down for a drink especially as the dry season progresses. In September and October the river bank in front of camp becomes home to a white-fronted bee-eater colony which is always interesting to watch.
