Sofitel Legend The Grand

Sofitel Legend The Grand

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

An elegant and sophisticated hotel along two of Amsterdam’s central canals, Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam offers a stylish place to stay near many of the city’s highlights. The grand stone building dates back to the 15th century, and the entrance is in a secluded courtyard, offering a quiet haven in the middle of the city.

The historical lobby is chic, with arched cream walls, dark furnishings and a bright marble reception desk, while stained-glass windows along the marble staircase recall the building’s past as a convent. The rooms combine French elegance with a contemporary feel, mixing muted shades of pink, red or green with original features like wooden beams.

The hotel is home to two restaurants: Bridges, which offers international cuisine, and Oriole, which serves a menu of Mediterranean cuisine. The Flying Dutchman bar offers pub food and snacks with a large drink menu, while Library ‘Or’ serves a fireside afternoon tea alongside shelves of books. There’s also a canal-side garden terrace where you can enjoy lunch, dinner or drinks.

OUR OPINION:

We love this elegant hotel for its effortless blend of contemporary design and historic structure. Its courtyard entrance makes it a serene spot in the heart of the city.
