De l'Europe

De l'Europe

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Situated on the foundations of a medieval guard tower, the De L’Europe combines modern comfort with old-fashioned opulence and a riverside location. Original features remain such as intricate chandeliers and coving patterns on the ceilings. These historic touches are paired with bold red and blue hues, and plush furnishings, while replica Dutch Masters paintings adorn the walls of the guest accommodation. The personable staff are attentive and helpful.

The hotel’s 111 suites and rooms, many of which have river views, are well appointed and feature marble-clad bathrooms. For a particularly indulgent stay, the penthouse suite features its own private riverside terrace and can be converted into a six-bedroom apartment.

The hotel is home to three restaurants: the Michelin-starred Bord’Eau, the Marie brasserie, which serves French cuisine in a relaxed setting, and Trattoria Graziella. Freddy’s Bar offers creative cocktails and gourmet bar snacks accompanied by live jazz and is named after the late Alfred ‘Freddy’ Heineken, who once frequented it. There’s also a spa, fitness suite and heated swimming pool at the hotel.

Just outside the door, you can visit Dam Square, the Royal Palace, and the Bloemenmarkt, while only minutes away are the Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum.

OUR OPINION:

We love the way De L’Europe combines an intimate feel and personal service with a grand, luxe style, not to mention its riverside location in the heart of the city.
