Dani visiting McWay Falls, USA

Dani

Canada Specialist

Growing up, I was lucky enough to be part of a family that loved to travel and visited destinations such as Thailand, Mauritius and the east coast of the USA. These experiences inspired a lifelong love of travel that has never left me.

Since graduating from university with a degree in classical civilisation, I've continued to travel. However, it was a road trip around California that really opened my eyes to the sheer size and spectacle of the landscapes of the west coast of the USA. This sparked another trip less than a year later, knowing I had only scratched the surface. It was then that I knew I had to pursue my love for travel and America further, so I joined Audley as a USA Specialist.

I recently spent a month exploring California and the southwest, from the vibrant cities of San Francisco and Los Angeles to the jaw-dropping scenery of Utah's national parks.

Yosemite National Park

I recommend visiting - Yosemite National Park, California

Yosemite was the first American national park that I visited and I still think it's the most impressive. You never forget that feeling you get when you enter the valley for the first time and see El Capitan and Half Dome towering above you. Add numerous waterfalls, lush meadows and the winding Merced River, and it’s one of the most dramatic landscapes I've ever seen.

Due to the vast size of the park and the number of trails and viewpoints, you're guaranteed to see something different on every visit. I'd highly recommend hiking to Yosemite Falls and watching the sun set at Glacier Point.

The swimming pool at Enchantment Resort, Sedona

I recommend staying at - Enchantment Resort, US

Deluxe

Enchantment Resort in Sedona really lives up to its name. It's secluded in a natural arena of red rocks and offers superb service and facilities.

You'll never be short of things to do here. If the six tennis courts, three pools, pitch and putt, croquet lawns and spa aren’t enough, there are numerous hiking trails and natural vortexes (energy sites) right on your doorstep. Enjoy a prickly pear margarita around one of the fire pits, watch the sun set and turn Boynton Canyon deep red, or have dinner at one of the four restaurants before taking a golf cart back to your casita.

I'll never forget when…

Taking a helicopter ride over San Francisco and seeing famous landmarks such as Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf and Golden Gate Park from above was pretty special. But if that wasn't enough, the pilot then flew us over and under the Golden Gate Bridge, which was a complete surprise. Just seeing the bridge is a highlight of visiting San Francisco, but seeing it from all angles, in a helicopter, is an experience I’ll never forget.
