Iwaso Ryokan

The Iwaso Ryokan is a classic Japanese inn located in the Momijidani valley, which is a sea of color in spring and fall. The inn is a 10 minute — slightly uphill — walk south of Itsukushima shrine and a 10-minute walk from the cable car station up to Mt Misen, making it ideally placed for sightseeing on the island.

Many of the rooms have lovely views of the surrounding woodland or the ocean and torii shrine gate, and the peaceful atmosphere allows for an extremely relaxing stay. There is a wonderful large bathhouse, including an outdoor tub and the owners are extremely helpful and friendly. Vegetarians are welcome and a choice of Japanese or western breakfasts are served.
