Hakone Ginyu Spa Resort

Hakone Ginyu Spa Resort

Hakone & Mount Fuji, Japan

The moment you enter the Hakone Ginyu you’re greeted by both the first-rate staff and by the sweeping panoramic views of the mountainside. The emphasis here is on luxurious relaxation and you'll feel pampered in every way, whether soaking in an onsen or sitting on the terrace while taking in the incredible as scenery. The Ginyu’s owner cites Bali, Indonesia as his inspiration for the vibrant and colorful hues that contrast with his authentic adherence to local style and traditional Japanese architecture.

After a day of exploring, you can visit the infinity pool onsen (Japanese hot spring) to unwind while admiring the lush greenery that surrounds the hotel. Each room is also equipped with a private onsen, along with separate eating and sleeping quarters, ensuring privacy for each guest.

OUR OPINION:

Rooms

The hotel offers guest rooms on four floors, with each floor featuring its own style of room. All are equipped with a private outdoor onsen and bathroom facilities, and most are handicap accessible. Rooms are either Japanese or Western in style, with the main difference being in their beds, which are either Western in style or are traditional Japanese futons. Suites on the first and second level have sunken floors, the best views over the mountainside, and both an indoor and outdoor bath. Rooms on the third floor have wooden baths that are smaller, while rooms on the fourth floor have stone baths. Dinner is served in the rooms each evening, with Japanese or Western-style dining tables provided in all rooms.

Location

The Ginyu is conveniently located within a ten-minute walk of Miyanoshita Station, on the Hakone Tozan Line. Near the station are many attractions, including museums, restaurants, and cafés. However, the immediate area surrounding the hotel is quiet and residential, allowing guests to enjoy peace and quiet during their stay but remain within walking distance of town. One of the hotel's greatest advantages is that it’s built on a mountainside, allowing for unobstructed views of the surrounding forestry.

Food and drink

Both breakfast and dinner are provided with each room reservation, consisting of Japanese cuisine. Food can be served in-room per ryokan tradition, or you can opt to eat in the communal dining room. Hakone Ginyu is focused on the customer experience, especially in regards to food, so they serve only the finest, local ingredients, with their menu changing every season.

Facilities and activities

The highlight of Hakone Ginyu is its phenomenal onsen facilities, both public and private. While the hot spring water of Hakone has been popular for centuries, the Ginyu offers the additional advantage of an incomparable view of the mountainside. Every room contains a covered outdoor onsen, allowing guests to relax privately while observing nature — the views are stunning, even in the rain!

Accessibility

Hakone Ginyu is one of the most customer-orientated hotels in the Hakone region, and its rooms are designed to be enjoyable for all guests. Therefore, every part of the hotel is designed to be wheelchair accessible and comfortable for guests with mobility issues.
