Punta Regina

The Amalfi Coast, Italy

One of the few hotels in Positano with road access, this is an excellent option for those who neither wish to tackle too many stairs, nor compromise on a convenient, central location.

The Punta Regina is a family run hotel which has been offering excellent service, spacious rooms and wonderful views for over a decade. It has a fantastic open-air roof terrace with a swimming pool, which hosts a delicious buffet breakfast in the mornings and a lively bar in the evenings, looking out over the town and the sea beyond.

OUR OPINION:

Although simple, we think the Punta Regina is a great option for those who want an excellent value hotel, with a convenient location and friendly staff. Its best features are the roof terrace and the spacious rooms which are difficult to come by in such a small and expensive town.

Rooms

Rooms and suites are light, airy and spacious with high ceilings, balconies and outdoor seating. Each room is styled differently and some of the higher categories even have indoor or outdoor Jacuzzi hot tubs. The beds are large and comfortable with soft linens and you can expect tasteful splashes of blues, reds or greens in the furnishings and local paintings, all of which contribute to a classic, yet modern, interior. The bathrooms are marble with charming nautical mosaics around the bathtubs.

Location

The Punta Regina has road access, making it easy to drop off luggage as well as convenient for exploring the coastline by car. It is by no means on the outskirts of town, however. To walk to Santa Maria Assunta Church or to the beach below would take 15 minutes via the street or a mere five minutes directly down the steps.

Food and drink

Although there isn’t a restaurant at the Punta Regina, they have an excellent rooftop terrace where a buffet breakfast is served. This terrace has outdoor and indoor seating, and is also open in the evenings for a chilled aperitivo. For lunch and dinner, the choice of restaurants and bars is extensive and just a short walk away.

Facilities and activities

There is small but inviting swimming pool on the roof terrace, measuring 35 sq m in total, an ideal spot to soak up the sun. All of the rooms are fitted with complimentary Wi-Fi, albeit a little slow.
