Hotel Silky

Hotel Silky

Lyon, France

Built in 1860, the hotel is set in a handsome Parisian-style townhouse which once played host to the city’s visiting silk merchants. Inside, this heritage is reflected in the decor which combines contemporary style with elements of Lyon’s silk-industry heritage with bobbins of thread, reels of ribbon and quirky curios artfully worked into the design.

Hotel Silky’s 46 spacious rooms are simply but stylishly decorated with large windows bathing the rooms in light, high ceilings, vintage mirrors and a fresh palette of blues and greens. A continental breakfast is served in the small dining area in the basement of the hotel. Although there is no restaurant, there is a basic room service menu and a good choice of cafés and restaurants in the surrounding streets.

The hotel is located on Place Francisque Régaud in Lyon’s Presqu’île district within walking distance of shops and the historic old town as well as many of the city sights.

Service is relaxed but efficient giving the hotel a warm and welcoming atmosphere, which is boosted further by the complimentary evening apéritifs and traditional Lyonnais nibbles served in the lounge or on the terrace.

OUR OPINION:

We find Hotel Silky’s location and charm to be a great fit for couples and families looking to get out and explore the city on foot and come back at night to a comfortable place to relax.
