I’ve been gripped by wanderlust since I was young and was fortunate to travel with my parents throughout my childhood and during my years in education to take part in sporting events. This ignited my passion in travel and curiosity in discovering different parts of the world, which has led to my career in travel. My passion for travel has grown exponentially and new destinations and experiences have been added to my Bucket List — many still left to tick off. I love to encourage friends and family to travel and to immerse themselves in the culture of the country they’re visiting. This makes for an amazing and authentic experience, creating lasting memories and driving inspiration for future ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½.
Italy is a country that has so much to offer and its diversity of experiences are second to none: historical ruins and the magnificent artworks of Michelangelo in Rome, to the endless rolling hills with hidden vineyards and wineries in Tuscany, the breathtaking views of Mount Vesuvius in Naples, as well as quaint coastal towns hidden like little gems on the cliffsides of the Amalfi Coast.
Q&A with Alana
What’s your most vivid travel moment?
I’ll always remember my trip to Puerto Vallarta with my partner, a lesser-known but equally amazing side of Mexico on its Pacific coast. We were journeying across Banderas Bay to Las Caletas, a small beach hideaway and Mexico’s own Garden of Eden that's only accessible by boat. As the sun was setting on our way across the bay, we were lucky enough to witness dolphins, leaping and jumping alongside our boat, and on the horizon. I felt so lucky to see such a natural wonder. It’s a memory that will never fade.
Where would you love to travel to next?
I love the combination of discovering wildlife and blissful relaxation on the beach, so Tanzania is a destination that I'm eager to visit. I enjoy immersing myself in nature, and visiting Nyerere National Park to spot giraffe, elephants and lion in their natural habitats would be a dream come true. I would choose to finish off this trip with a complete kick-back on one of Zanzibar’s beautiful beaches.
Your best piece of travel advice?
Get up early. Wherever I go on my ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½, I love to get up early enough to watch the sunrise. I’ve been lucky enough to witness dawn from tropical beaches, a mountain summit, the Acropolis, and a rooftop terrace in the heart of Naples to name just a few, and it’s worth it every time. The early start also gives you time to get out before the crowds in the middle of the day, and then you can enjoy a laid-back lunch and afternoon.
