Kwetsani Camp

Kwetsani Camp is situated up in the treetops. Built on very high stilts in and around the trees, it has panoramic views and is great fun to stay in.

Tree top pathways lead to your treehouse which nestles in around the branches of fig or mangosteen trees. There's a big deck outside, and inside you'll find comfy beds with fluffy blankets, tables made of tree-stumps, en suite bathrooms with an indoor and outdoor shower and lots of chairs with big cushions.

The main boma, built around a fig tree, has an old wooden dining table, good bookcase, large comfy sofas, chairs and a very useful pair of yellow nautical binoculars which are great for viewing passing game as you enjoy a cool afternoon drink on the deck. The food is particularly good but make sure you get to the toast in the mornings before the crested barbets do. With only six tents it is very small, personal and friendly.

Stairs lead down to the decked pool area that is almost at ground level with views across the plains. Overlooking floodplains the camp seems to have red lechwe in front of it pretty much permanently. Bushbuck trip through the undergrowth and baboons have been known to drop the fruit of the jackalberry on guests' heads. A couple of bull elephants are known to come through camp both day and night allowing a truly special bush experience.

Activities at Kwetsani include day and night game drives as well as mokoro trips during the dry season; and during the flooded months, it is possible to take boat trips, fish (for bream, catfish and tigerfish — on a catch and release policy) and take particularly good mokoro trips on the surrounding floodplains. It is an incredibly relaxing camp to stay at and after two or three days here you'll feel like a new person.
